Beck is under fire for numerous gaffs and blunders. Perhaps his biggest faux pas was calling President Barack Obama “a racist,” and claiming the president “has a deep-seated hatred for white people or the white culture.” Beck made the comments on the “Fox and Friends” program on July 28.
Indeed, because of Beck's erratic, controversial, and often erroneous reporting, advertisers have been refusing to sponsor or be associated with Beck. Many consider Beck to be part of a larger problem at Fox News. Clearly Beck is guilty of projecting his prejudices and racism on to President Obama. Yet the fact is, not only Beck, but Fox News as a whole, appeals to racist people.
Given the underlying racism of Fox News, it is unclear whether or not the foreign owned media giant will have the courage and good sense to fire Beck. Clearly the forced vacation is an attempt to let the mainstream outrage cool.
